Duane F Smith C.Ht.
lives in Worcester, Massachusetts and is a certified hypnotherapist
specializing in transpersonal hypnotherapy. Duane has been a
certified hypnotherapist since 2000 and continuously seeks out new
techniques, philosophies and theories in the way people experience
spiritual, mental, emotional and physical reality.
Besides hypnotherapy, Duane has studied many different methods
of alternative and complimentary well being models, in order to
become a whole health consultant and educator.
Duane has studied NLP, EFT, Cybernetics, Social Psychology,
Chakra balancing techniques, Psycho-Neuro Immunology and many
other mind/body and Bio-Energy based wellness models.
Duane believes in the power of self healing and thinks of himself as
a facilitator for self empowerment.
Duane's work is based on the basic presupposition that we all have
the resources we need to make changes, but that those resources
are not always in the proper context for the change we desire.
Aligning those resources in the proper context and creating a new
mental strategy can help empower someone to eliminate bad habits
or improve existing skills beyond what they would normally be able
to do on a conscious level with their "will power".
All behavior, whether "good or bad", has a positive intent and
makes sense in the context in which it was created. Often times the
unconscious mind will accept a new behavior easily if it believes the
new behavior will satisfy the positive intent as well as, or better
than, the original behavior.
Besides the hobby of helping others with the use of his skills
in hypnosis and NLP, Duane is also an advocate for people
with disabilities and is an area coordinator for Central
Massachusetts Families Organizing for Change
(CMFOC), a grassroots family organization that promotes
education for those people whose lives have been touched by
someone with a disability, by providing leadership and self
advocacy training, as well as family networking and legislative
process trainings.
